Regreso del Costa Allegra

Dicen <font color="blue">"In Da Nang we took an organised excursion to Hoi An. We were told that Da Nang doesn't offer much to tourists and from what we saw as we drove through it , I would agree.

The organised tour was great but very overpriced and if we went again we would hire a taxi and do it ourselves. Unfortunately we had been told that there were not many taxis available at the port in Da Nang but that just isnt true. (I cant tell you what a good price for a taxi would be.)

The one good thing about taking this organised trip was the services of a fluent English speaking guide.He pointed out many of the Vietnames war sites and places like China Beach.
Hoi An is all within walking distance and as long as you have the cruise excursion details to hand for reference you will be able to see all the things we did. The ships excursion cost euros 60 per person.

Many passengers had clothing made to measure in Hoi An and then delivered to the Allegra before we sailed !

From Da Nang we sailed to Cailan.For some reason , unknown to me , we arrived in Cai Lan late ... and the day was spoiled.Beautiful Halong Bay was supposed to be the first part of our tour but I think we went to the Royal Amusement Park first because there were puppeteers and dancers waiting to perform for us.They were beautiful and we have some wonderful photographs.From here we went to a hotel for lunch which was traditional Vietnames fayre. Also lovely.
However we were by then so short of time that the operators decided to miss out several things and head straight for the boats waiting to take us around Halong Bay. It was so dark that we could hardly see the amazing karts formations.
To Costa's credit they gave us a full reimbursement of our money (after a bit of arguing and impending mutiny of thirty odd english speaking passengers !!!)
It's almost impossible to do your own thing in Halong Bay , so I am just retelling our tale that so that you can avoid the same thing happening to you.
BTW the cost of the organised trip was euros 70 per person."</font id="blue">


En Español, resumen, DA NANG: No hay tanto para ver, han hecho la excursion del barco pero les han parecido caro y dice que la próxima vez lo haría lo mismo pero con un taxi. Dice que en Hoi An todo está cerca para ir andando y solo con el listado de los sitios a visitar (copiando del excursion organizado) puedes ir a cada sitio andando por tu cuenta. La excusrion del barco por lo visto costaba unos 60 euros. y a los AMANTES DE LA COMPRA: Dice que muchos passajeros han encargado aqui ropa hecho a medir....y la ropa estaba terminado y entregado en el barco antes de salir el barco.

Han llegado tarde a Cai Lan y se han reducido las excursiones pero al mismo tiempo han aplicado una reduccion del precio de la excursion. Dice que ha sido muy bonito pero CASI IMPOSIBLE HACER Halong Bay a nivel privado por tu cuenta.

You more or less have to take an organised tour here because it includes the price of a Chinese visa.
If you go ashore independently you have to fill in numerous forms, have a photograph taken of yourself and pay 47 euros for the visa.

The tour cost 45 euros . ie saving you 2 euros !!</font id="blue">

En Español, Sanya Hainan island ha sido fenomenal.

Aqui casi por fuerza hay que hacer la excursion (45€) con el barco ya que incluye el precio del visado de china ....y si esto lo quieres hacer por tu cuenta, pues hay que rellenar varios impresos, sacar fotografias y pagar 47€ por el visado....asi que con la excusrion sale 2 euros mas barato.

<font color="blue">"The ship is small but very comfortable. We had a super cabin on the outside of deck four.The entertainments crew were a great bunch of Italian and Chinese young people , who were always organising things to do.
The waiters and bar staff were from China and The Philippines mainly. Their English was sometimes minimal but they couldnt have been more helpful and gave excellent service with a smile. Learn a few words of Chinese and you will see their faces light up . Our waiter Kai was a darling .
I say this because we never had a single problem with the food. If we chose something that we didnt like when it arrived , Kai was straight back to the kitchen to bring us something else.In fact that rarely had to happen since we enjoyed the food.
It is Italian style and it is no good thinking you want everything like it is at home.The fish was always good. The meat was sometimes fatty and seemed to me to more along the lines of Chinese cuts as opposed to the cuts we are used to in the UK.
Eat in the restaurant Breakfast and Lunch ... they were by far the superior times to be fed. Sometimes in the evening we got the feeling that coping with everybody sitting down to eat at the same time was a bit much for the Kitchens to cope with !

I didnt like the buffet on deck 6 it was always crowded and I prefer to be served. But thats just a personal foible ... and if you misss breakfast because you've overslept ... its a useful alternative venue !! My partner got into the habit of taking afternoon tea there as well ... no wonder he came back overweight !

The reception desk was manned by very helpful ladies under the management of Anita Wolfgang. If you have any problems she will always give you genuine help.

There were passengers who complained about the ship BUT it doesnt pretend to be anything which it isnt. Its a three star converted container ship and its not a glitzy 5 star American vessel.It doesnt have climbing walls and ice skating rinks. It has an innocent charm that reminds me of cruising in the 70's. There is a distinct lack of organisation at times (like 1, when they gave out tender tickets at the same time and in the same room as people waiting to go on an excursion. 2, When they sent us down from the Folies Bergere ballroom to get on a coach ... but didnt tell the coach to wait for us. 3, like forgetting to take 10 passemgers on a trip) but that is typical Italian and if you go on an italian cruise ship its what tends to happen.But they always muddle through somehow".</font id="blue">

Resumen en Español: El barco es pequeño pero muy comodo. Tuvimos una cabina muy buena en la 4ª planta (¿no se si se dice planta o como se dice en Español!!!?). Los camareros y los del bar eran de Asia o Filipinas pero con un buen servicio y atendiendo con una sonrisa. El estilo es mas que nada Italiano. No les gustaba el buffet de la 6ª planta porque hay mas colas de gente. Importante...dice: Habian pasajeros que han quejado del barco pero el barco no pretende ser algo que no es. ES UN BARCO ANTIGUAMENTE DE CONTENADORES QUE HA SIDO CONVERTIDO EN TRES ESTRELLAS Y NO ES UN BARCO AMERICANO ESPECTACULAR DE 5 ESTRELLAS

Caramelo, infinitas gracias por tu aportación, sabiendo que tu fuistes con Princess valoro muy especialmente toda esta información y el tiempo empleado en ella.
Gracias, como dices ya me imaginé al ver tres estrellas que el barco no sería el mejor, ni de los mejores de Costa, una vez pasado el sofocón de las noticias de los primeros dias, estoy deseando que llegue el momento.

Como dice trotamundos, sabiendo lo que hay cualquier alegría será bienvenida.

Carmen, si no voy mal el dia de la llegada a Ho chi Ming es año nuevo ya allí tambien es fiesta, lo digo porque no creo que tengamos abiertos bancos y museos, a lo mejor nos interesa excursión con el barco.

Hola foreros del Costa Alegra, me voy mañana a Asia con princess.

Aqui dejo mis amigas ecuoreo, carmen y caramelo.

Si caramelo dice que todo esta bien, la podeis creer, ya que ella sabe mucho. Hay que ir positivo de vacaciones. Cada uno ve las cosas a su manera.
Lo que a uno le parece bien, al otro le va mal.

Asi, no hacer demasiado caso a las critcas negativas.

Os dejo y os veo a tod@s a mi vuelta en Diciembre
